American Terminology:
Sawn = Shingles
Handsplit = Shakes
Australia's
most famous timber must be She Oak or Forest Oak (casuarina torulosa)
- nature's plywood, split on the quarter - it needs the least
processing due to its inherent characteristics. However, due
to present National Parks and Wildlife Services legislation,
She Oak cannot be logged, as it is a major food source for Yellow/Black
and Red/Black Cockatoo.
